Human trafficking is a serious transnational crime which is part of the three “evils”- besides terrorism and drug trafficking- which haunt the Globe. (Kempadoo, 2005). Human trafficking is not a simple term, it involves sex trafficking, labour of children, human smuggling, even more tissue cells and organ trafficking. Legalizing prostitution have an impact on sex trafficking, which reason could be the fact, that the legalization makes easier to disguise sex-trafficking as legal prostitution. The term, sex trafficking, refers to the process, when a person is taken against his or her own will and forced to engage in commercial sex and prostitution.
The famous city, Las Vegas, have been known for a long period to hold a title as a symbolic center of the commercial sex industry, but regardless of that, prostitution is illegal there. The states lure tourist in with sexuality as the component of Nevada’s tourist economy. If these trends continue in the future, the sex industry would be an even larger part of the economy, which and it will imply more illegal sex trafficking, since the legalization of prostitution is engaging in a bigger demand for sex workers. As any other market, the sex trafficking is also being controlled by the laws of supply and demand. The traffickers can gain a high profit in this market, and their commodity (the trafficked women and men) can be sold repeatedly, without a big, risky investment, due to the high demand for prostitutes.
