It is disgusting that humans do this to other living humans that are just like themselves. And not only that, but this horrendous abuse towards women is a systematic form of abuse and violence to keep women oppressed, out of control, and without power. “The mechanism of violence is what destroys women, controls women, diminishes women and keeps women in their so-called place.” (Ensler 121) Abuse specifically towards women is one of the most devastating things that exists in the world. And it has happened to way too many women over the past years, and is continuing to happen to way too many women. “The global statistics on the abuse of girls are numbing. It appears that more girls have been killed in the last fifty years, precisely because they were girls, than men were killed in all the wars of the twentieth century. ” (Kristof 17) This just shows how out of control it truly is. This lethal abuse has gone way too far for way too long. They also may not know that while it is more common in places on the other side of the globe, it does happen here in America too. Human trafficking really does happen everywhere. But, if they do know about human trafficking, they may not be aware of the fact that there are around 21- 30 million people currently enslaved around the world (“Trafficking” para. 1). Education of world issues is one of the most beneficial and important factors to help stop such a serious and costly issue. Human trafficking is so costly and out of control that it is actually commonly referred to as the fastest growing crime in the entire world (“Trafficking” para. 1). And if it is not stopped or at least slowed any time soon, it will become unstoppable.
