Human Trafficking is very well-known as modern day slavery. When people become victims of human trafficking, they are manipulated and forced with violence to work for money and to get sexually exploited. Over 70% of people who are forced into human trafficking are women and children (Efforts Against Human). This is because of sex selection and abortion. Sex selection is important because the main customers are usually men. They like to use women to have sex with them. If they get pregnant, they figure that the woman doesn’t mean anything to society anyway and can just get an abortion (Global Abolition). There is labor trafficking, which is when people are forced to work extended hours in toxic conditions for the owner’s gain. There is also sex trafficking. Sex Trafficking is the most popular out of the two types of trafficking. In sex trafficking, the owner of someone will send them to a person for the night. The money the person gets will go straight to the owner. Under sex trafficking also comes with sexual exploitation. Like someone getting sold for sex, owners are given money to rip off women’s clothing in front of large crowds. Victims of trafficking are not given a single penny, even though they were promised a richer and better life by their trafficker. This is even more sickening when it comes to children! If businesses began selling items and having a certain amount of proceeds go to help those victimized by trafficking, it is almost always guaranteed that the business’s income will increase, along with a good word from customers (Global Abolition). People like to feel like they are doing good for others. By selling products and putting labels on them that says a portion of proceeds go to the cause, it is assured that customer satisfaction will increase and people will be more willing to invest in products which will make the business grow to be a lot more successful.
