Human Trafficking Imagine the thought of being kidnapped; think about what great pain would be inflicted. Never being able see loved ones again again. Feeling trapped and used for hard labor. Not being considered a person but as an object. Being emotionally, physically and sexually abused relentlessly. Knowing that the only way to ever leave is if the kidnapper gets caught or killed. Human trafficking is a very serious matter. There is human trafficking in every state including Iowa. By definition, it is the illegal movement of people, especially for purposes of forced labor and sexual exploitation.There are a variety of types of human trafficking. January 11th was named National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. On this day, group events took place in an attempt to increase awareness about human trafficking within the public. The Alliance to End Human Trafficking, an anti trafficking organization, began a campaign to ask the government to take a serious look at trafficking by renewing the Trafficking Victims Protection Act which was passed in 2000 but never took full effect.(ProQuest Staff. In The book Human Trafficking by Courtney Farrell sh said that a possible solution would be to “Be a conscientious consumer.” (64)This means that we as citizens should be careful not to put ourselves in dangerous situations by not being thorough. Always ask questions and make sure the scene is safe and all facts are known because anyone could be behind this. In order for someone to be a conscientious consumer means that they are aware of their surroundings. With the new generation comes new problems the old laws won’t solve. uneducated kids on social media and parents on dating websites may be unaware of the dangers of following fake profiles and going on a date with someone you don't know enough
