There are three elements to human trafficking the act, the means and the purpose. The act is what the instance of trafficking is that is being carried out such as recruitment or transportation of persons. The means is how the act is carried out such as abduction or fraud, essentially how people are gathered or brought in for trafficking purposes. Lastly the purpose is why the trafficking is taking place, what are the people being trafficked for such as forced labour or sexual exploitation. This has been a constant issue for the entire course of humanity, but has become an especially important issue now with the displacement of millions of humans around the world due to war, for example the Syrian civil war has displaced over four million people alone. This does not mean that this is just a problem in other places, it also happens here at home in Canada and the US, for example in Hamilton, Ontario in 2012 a couple were convicted of trafficking 19 women from Hungary to Canada under the promise of good work, instead they were forced to work for nothing.
