People in agreement with human trafficking may argue that it is a cheaper way to get difficult labor finished. Most of the victims in the labor-work branch are oftentimes used in various industries such as farming, agriculture, construction, domestic work, and manufacturing in factories (“Labor” sec 3). The labor-workers are often pursuing these difficult tasks with no pay in return. The overseers can exploit work through physical or mental means. The most popular tactic of the overseers is debt bondage - when a person is held captive until their debt is paid off (“Terms” sec 6). In Wisconsin this year there has been one labor-work bust (“Wisconsin” sec 2). Although the most common victims are women under 18 years old, the victims can be male, older adults, people of dominant ethnic groups or religious backgrounds, people of any class, and from any educational backgrounds (Kloer par 3). It is important to become more aware of human trafficking; as one might say, “knowledge is power.” The more educated the public becomes on human trafficking, the easier it will be to fight this battle. There are several organizations un-affiliated with the government that can help the victims of human trafficking by providing housing, clothing, food, a job or education that the victim may have missed out on while dealing with their circumstance (Chisholm secs 6 & 10). The government has also put together several programs to aid in the recovery of the victims. One being the Federal Law Enforcement Authorization, which identifies with any federal law enforcement agencies who are responsible for detecting, investigating, or prosecuting human trafficking (“Terms” sec 8).” Another being the Trafficking Victims Protection Act 2000 that works towards prevention of human trafficking, victim protection and the prosecution of the trafficking leaders (“Terms” sec 15).
