The rapist is defined in the textbook as one of three ways in origin anger, power, and sadism. A rape expert ( he classifies and treats the attackers) named Nicholas Groth estimates that 55% were found to be in the category for power, 40% stemmed from anger, and 5% in a sadistic manor. He has recognized this act as one of violence more than sexual in nature. In this he means that it is not for the benefit of sexual desires and more about the violence and abuse acted out on to another. There is a marital rape aspect of this labeling or categorizing and generally speaking the husband that rapes his wife is typically and an abusive spouse and it is a sadistic form of abuse. This type of rape is stated has being accompanied by brutal beatings. It has been only recently that this crime was recognized by all states as a crime, prior to the 1980’s it was not considered a crime. In rape prone societies this type of victimization is an acceptable form of control of women and a way to perform punishments towards women. But in other circumstances men are also found to have been or are being abused as well. Men tend to not report crimes of this nature at all. There is a definite stigma towards a man who is assaulted by a woman, as if a man is not a man if he does not accept or is overpowered by a woman sexually attacking him. That is not okay either; rape is rape regardless of who is doing it and regardless of who it is done to. No persons of any gender should be treated in this manor or shamed for having it happen to them. Dehumanizing anyone is wrong and should be illegal worldwide, the unfortunate side effects or trauma do not just simply go away and can last a

“In No Turning Back” Estelle Freedman mostly gives international examples of the threat or action of rape to terrorize women. Despite a lack of examples from America in her article, the threat and actin of rape to control a woman’s behavior is existent on a daily basis in this country. One example that comes to mind is in marriage. For example, if a man and a woman are married, and the woman is a stay at home man, who depends on her husband as the only source of income, the threat of rape might be present in the relationship. If the husband wants to have sex with his wife, but she doesn’t want to, he might force her into it even if she doesn’t want to because of the fact that without that husband she would have no source of income.…

In “Sex Crimes I: Rape and Sexual Assault”, the author, Laurence Miller, discusses rape as a product of nurture. He argues that rape is mainly caused by societal and cultural upbringing. On the other side, Randy Thornhill and Craig T. Palmer, authors of “Why Men Rape”, argue that nature is the main cause of rape. They believe that rape is an evolutionary adaptation. Although both “Sex Crimes I: Rape and Sexual Assault” and “Why Men Rape” have similar views discussing high rape rates, the articles differ vastly in determining the specific nature or nurture aspects of rape, for example, whether rape is an act of sex or violence.…

Conclusion In conclusion, Sex Trafficking is by far the worst crime in my eyes. Youth and women are stripped of human rights and turned into sexual objects. Due to the lucrative nature of this crime, I believe efforts to stop human trafficking should focus more on suppliers and consumers. Sex trafficking is forceful, violent, and closer to home than one may think. With sex trafficking being the fastest-growing business of organized crime, immediate actions must be taken to save the millions of slaves coerced into sexual assault. The victims within sex trafficking, usually abandoned, abused, and fearful, are pushed against their will to sell their bodies by pimps, also known as procurers. Around 293,000 American youths are currently at risk of being sexually exploited. The most recent law passed in aiding the halt of sex trafficking is the TVPA, Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act, of 2013, which allows the Secretary of State to complete actions such as “help prevent child marriage, limit the validity of a passport…

The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors have voted to combat human labor and sex trafficking by creating a human-trafficking commission. This commission will be investigating the types of human trafficking, identify policies and prevention for victims, and work with the police to stop human trafficking. Human trafficking includes slavery, forced labor, debt bondage, and commercial sexual exploitation, however, majority of victims reported that they were in the forced labor category. Surprisingly, many human trafficking reports are from California, with the Bay Area being a prime target for this issue due to its many harbors, airports, industries, and large immigrant populations. In spite of that fact, adversaries promote the authorization of prostitution with ideologies of a mass reduction in unemployment and sexually transmitted diseases, as well as preserving the principles of economy equality. Whereas advocators publicizing the necessities for such regulations to ensuring the illegalization of prostitution express disagreements of maintaining the idea of morality, the escalation of victimization, and the concept that free choice does not correlate. Sex trafficking is a global phenomenon and there is often debate on how it should be addressed and resolved. According to Samarasinghe, female sex trafficking is “universally acknowledged as a highly exploitative activity” which results in great profit for those who exploit the women. They are subject to much abuse so that those in power can attain pleasure, power, and wealth. Although sex trafficking victims can come from all parts of the world, a large majority of them come from Asia due to their abundant supply of bodies and cheap labor.…
