Reflective Essay On Human Services

In this paper, I will be writing a final reflection from the class, Spirituality and the Practice of Human Services: An Integrative View. This will include my present religious personal journey. Additionally, my current understanding of spirituality and religion in human services. Lastly, I will incorporate my vision on how I will function ethically, responsibly, and competently as a human services professional. My present religious personal journey is a growing and developing path. I have come a long way since my childhood to develop into who I am today. My upbringing helped shape who I am, however as an adult I have also made numerous life altering decision and overcome obstacles. As a child, I was raised in a Christian home, went to church, and celebrated the traditional Christian holidays. However, into my teen years I strayed from religion. When I found my way back to church the first service I attended after several years of not attending, instantly connected with me. I have attended regularly ever since for the last five years. This will apply to both myself and clients. Being aware of all my own four dimensions will allow me to be a healthier person. When I provide myself with self-care first, I can offer improved assistance to other people. I can also use this knowledge in practice as I work with clients who will be struggling and wanting to find balance for themselves. When I think about working as a human services professional I envision being in a position where I will have the opportunity to positively affect other people’s lives.
