Ethics is an essential part of human life. In almost every decision ethics is the means to our course of action (Landauer & Rowlands, 2001). Our actions would be meaningless and unsystematic without ethics. Generally, humans will set goals and then take strategic steps in working towards such goals. The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) code of ethics is intended to provide a guide to the everyday professional conduct of its members.
• Country representation is a public trust, requiring members to place loyalty to domestic and international laws, regulations, and ethical principles above private gain.
• Members commit to a zero-tolerance culture for unethical behavior.
• Drive ethical behavior using a top-down approach, focusing on actions and clear communication.
• Encourage open and honest communication of ethical concerns.
• Successfully build trust, credibility, and confidence in USOC members through its business practices.
• Members shall project a professional attitude, through respect and humbleness.
• Members shall respect human rights, and maintain integrity in all activities.
• Members shall not hold financial interests that conflict with the performance of duty.
• Members shall not solicit or accept any gift, personal favors, entertainment, or other item of monetary value from any person doing business with or whose interest may be substantially affected by the performance of the member’s …show more content…
