Traditionally in a case study, observation is the primary method used. Given the global nature of this study, secondary observations through news articles and reports were employed. An additional method of research that was utilized are documents. Documents particularly pertaining to the core ideology of Communism and Democracy were analyzed in order to establish a record. These research methods were used to answer the sub questions, which related to the governments’ ideas about human rights along with natural and positivist laws that protect human rights. The standard definition found was from Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defining natural law as “a body of law or a specific principle held to be derived from nature and binding upon human society in the absence of or in addition to positive law.” Two other sites, Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy a “Peer-Reviewed Academic Resource” and an article from Zenit, were read in depth and information was gained, concluding that natural law is derived from moral Christian principles and that the universal standard of human rights is supported by natural law. Also, the research showed that Democracy valued the fundamentals of natural laws in its ideology. Where did Communism fit into natural law?
