Performance appraisal is a process by which the job performance of an employee is evaluated. Improving the staff skills, improves productivity hence company meets financial objectives. Employees will also feel valued because the company are investing in their professional development. d. Improved Communication- Another huge benefit of performance appraisal is it a medium for improving communication throughout the organization. It offers a chance to build employee-supervisor relationships. Employees feel valued, respected and it improves workplace morale when they are able to provide feedback to their supervisor as well. e. Providing a Career Path- The employee is afforded an opportunity to discuss their career goals or employees aspirations to become members of the company’s future leadership team. This keeps those employees motivated and satisfied with their jobs. Highly motivated employees will most likely want to do more to help the company to become successful.

Pre-Appraisal Activities
Performance appraisal is a process. It is not a one day/year meeting to inform the employee how their performance has been throughout the appraisal period. The employee should not be hearing about her performance for the first time when comes in for her annual evaluation.
