Human Resources Management: A Case Study Of Wells Fargo

Josh graduated from Indiana University two years ago, where he majored in Economics and minored in Human Resource Management through SPEA. He works for Well Fargo in Chicago, and works in the Human Resource department. His original plan was to get into banking with Wells Fargo, however he was placed in the HR department. He was disappointed at first, however he has now found that Human Resources is where he truly belongs and enjoys where his career path has started to lead him. He feels that he would not have be able to get where he is today without hard work in the classroom, using the great resources IU has to offer, and his networking abilities.

I would say at Wells Fargo the average salary for entry level would range from 60,000- 70,000. It really depends on the experience you are bringing in and how competitive you are. If they want, you to work for them they are willing to go above the range I mentioned. Job opportunities are growing in the Human Resource field. It has become such an important part of organizations, not having people in HR would become a great issue. When they offer you the position at Wells Fargo, they will assign you to the office that you will be located in. Usually, if you intern at a particular location and get the job you will be at that location again. Your second year of work, Wells Fargo will typically relocate you one more time. I am currently in Chicago, however I am being transferred to Palo Alto, California this upcoming year. Wells Fargo does ask for your preferences of living location, so they do not typically put you somewhere you do not want to be. Palo Alto was my first choice and they gave me the position.
1. This interview made me certain that I still want to go in the Human Resource field. Talking with someone about how much they enjoy their job, and learning more about their job makes me certain that this is the right path for me.
2. From talking to Josh, it really seems that a large part of him getting this great job was his networking skills. I think that this is something I need to improve on, because networking can lead to great opportunities for my future.
3. My father is the one who introduced me to this individual. I emailed him and was straight forward about how it would be great to get insight on his job and learn more about him, and he was extremely nice and willing to help
