To get the most out of the Human Resources function, the utmost important thing is to first systematically jot down the challenges facing the HR function, then devising a strategy of meeting these challenges. To start off, I first want to acknowledge/jot down the key challenges facing the HR fraternity right now:-

Key Challenges
• Managing talents, succession and workforce planning
• Motivating the workforce
• Developing a credible and effective HR function
• Sustaining organizational performance in the current economic situation
• Communication of HR plans/policies and strategies within organization

However, the most important thing to be kept in mind amidst all these challenges is that there are huge opportunities that are there. By a proper HR strategy and using internal and external opportunities that beckon us, we can meet our stated objectives and goals. The top competencies for HR leaders in this era are strategic capability, talent management, communication and business understanding. People who are crafting the HR strategy of the organization must be seasoned professionals with strong hold on the above skills. Some of these skills are given in a professional, other need to be imparted through intense training and development

Once people are in place, the next important thing is that the HR strategy has to be crafted in such a manner that it is aligned with the business
