Human resource management is defined as a strategic and coherent approach to the management of an organization’s most valued assets – the people working there who individually and collectively contribute to the achievement of its objectives.
Every business has to have a Human Resource department that is governed to meet the needs and cultures of the business as well as the employees. The human resource department needs to be able to keep up with changes that the world faces and be able to provide the needed training materials for new hires as well as all other employee in every department that were previously hired prior to the changes.
Performance appraisals are necessary to document and evaluate employee performance. Performance evaluations are one of the most powerful documents Human Resources can produce to verify the organization had legitimate grounds for promotion, demotion, or termination of an employee. However, if not conducted properly the outcome for both the employee and organization may be more harmful than helpful. Two Issues related to performance appraisals are poorly trained management and inaccurate methods and measurements.
Human resources must ensure management has the knowledge and skills to conduct accurate, fair, and non-biased performance appraisals. Effective verbal and written communication is necessary to gives constructive feedback that improves employee performance.
