Human past is a very valuable asset to human life. There are many examples of it in the dystopian novel, The Giver, by Lois Lowry. Human past makes us learn, like when we experience pain, it tells us not to do the thing that caused them pain again. We all still need to use the past to shape our future.
When people get hurt they learn things. Like in the giver when Jonas receives the memory of a broken leg “Jonas was jarred loose and thrown violently into the air… he could hear the crack of his bone.” (137). Later in the book he realized he could steer. That is how he learned through pain. People learn through pain.
