Human papilloma virus:
In these days that the age of first sexual activities decreases among the youth, providing the best protection against the infections which are possibly transmitted through sexual contact, is an extreme thought provoking issue.
HPV is the abbreviation of human papilloma virus which causes tumors(cell proliferation) in the epithelial tissue of the skin and the membranes of the mucous. There are more than 100 different types of human papilloma virus. Among these types, more than 40 kinds of human papilloma virus can be transmitted by direct sexual activities. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that more than 90% of men who are sexually active and also 80% of the women who are sexually active will get at least one type of HPV in their lifetime. Most high-risk HPV disease have no symptom, and they may disappear after 1 or 2 years, and also they are not developed into cancer. On the other hand some of the HPV infections are able to persist for so much longer, and they can cause cancer if they’re not treated. Several types of HPV cause genital warts which their way of transmission is by sexual activity. However vaccination do not have any bad effect on a person who already have the infection. The national cancer institute mentions, “The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved three vaccines to prevent HPV infection: Gardasil, Gardasil9, Cervarix.” These vaccines protect the body against new HPV disease, but they will not treat any kind of HPV infections (3). Vaccines also can have some protection against a few additional types of HPV which can cause cancer. Other diseases which are transmitted by sexual contact are not prevented through vaccine, and also existing human papilloma virus infection or HPV-caused disease are not treated via vaccine.
Biological background:
HPV is the reason of some of the cancers. Several types of cancers are because of high-risk HPVs.
-Cervical cancer: HPV is responsible for all cases of cervical cancer but only HPV type 16 and 18 are the reasons of about 70% of all cases of cervical cancer (7,8).
-Anal cancer: HPV cause about 95% of anal cancers. HPV type 16 is the reason of the most of
