Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted disease (STD) (What is HPV? 2015). Each year approximately 6.2 million new HPV infections occur in the United States among people ages 14 to 44(Managing HPV: A New Era in Patient Care, 2013). HPV occurrences vary by age and the rate is higher for young women (Managing HPV: A New Era in Patient Care, 2013). There is a vaccination that can decrease the rate of HPV infection. Research is the method of investigation to gain knowledge on a subject (Webb, 2011). Based on the above definitions of EBP and Research projects, the ideas present in the project will be based on EBP as evident by preliminary research. The majority of articles found are on previous research studies that support the use of HPV vaccinations as a reduction in HPV prevalence. Data supports the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that females between 13-17 years old receiving all three doses of HPV is 39.7 (Teen Vaccination Coverage, 2015). Based on the above information the project goal is to improve HPV vaccinations rate with the intervention of educating providers and parents about the significance of the vaccination and its reduction of HPV prevalence. Improving vaccination rates are important to nursing administration within the public sector because local health departments have to report data at a State level for tracking purposes. The Florida Department of Health also provides family planning services that include routine gynecological exams that track the outside referrals for abnormal pap smears. Nursing administration is held accountable for the data that is report as well as the vaccinations that are
