In Shirley Jackson's short story "The Lottery" It tells a story of a small town of about 300 people that comes together every year around June to draw names out of a black box. In my opinion this wasn't an happy or rewarding event. Because one individual from a family would be stoned by everyone in the town by unluckily drawing a piece of paper with a black dot on it out of the black box. This event says a lot about human nature and human society. Because even though the event would end in someone getting stoned everyone was laughing and joking and having lots of fun with not a care that that someone might be them."Soon the men began to gather, surveying their own children speaking of planting and rain, tractors, and taxes. they stood together
