Humans have naturally formed settlements to survive since they have been on the earth. As humankind has progressed society have become more advanced and organized. Within advanced society there has to be leadership, government laws and law enforcers. Family is the structure and core of all societies. In Lois Lowry’s novel The Giver normal human life is transformed to fit into the new society where everybody is the same.
