There is no doubt that the earth at an alarming rate is getting warmer, but the debate is whether the climate change is caused by humans. In the past one hundred years the carbon emissions have risen significantly, also in the past one hundred years the earth's surface temperature has increased at an alarming rate. What connects this to human activity is the fact that in the past 100 years many factories have been built emitting carbon (Harvey 1) , but most of all the burning of fossil fuels has emitted an enormous amount of carbon-ten million metric tons(Bringham 25) in the atmosphere! Every car, train, plane, house heating system uses fossil fuels for energy but also emits carbon in the atmosphere. At …show more content…
There are some facts that could support the idea of it not being caused by humans. For instance, many times in earth's history there have been major climate changes like in the early 1800s there was a “mini ice age” and scientists are still studying why it was caused and why it happened, and they believe that it was caused by a large volcanic eruption in Indonesia(Harvey1). At the same time the chemicals emitted into the atmosphere due to the eruption are the reason it had a cooling effect on the earth. That brings back the tie between the chemicals we emit from cars and large factories and other things, because we as humans have put so much of these greenhouse gasses it has had a warming effect on the earth the way they do in normal greenhouses. Disproving the idea that what humans do does not have a cause on the earth's overall rise in average temperature.
The arguments made in this paper show great evidence supporting human involvement in climate change. The average temperature has almost tripled in the past 50 years, and the average emissions of carbon have also increased significantly over the past 50 years. We can say they do not have anything to do with each other, but the evidence shows
