Human Impact Almost everything that humans do has an impact on the environment. These impacts can either be positive or negative. In the past, humans really didn't have much of an impact on the environment. However, lately, there have been more negative impacts. The negative impacts have had repercussions in the biosphere that will be difficult to undo. The repercussions are becoming more of a problem and are starting to affect different aspects of the biosphere. Humans are doing many things that impact the environment. Humans are rapidly growing, and the rapid growth means that many more humans are using nonrenewable energy sources. They can also build up in the soil and reduce soil quality, making in harder for organisms to survive there. Using chemicals and fossil fuels, as well as other things, can lead to pollution. The pollution is dangerous for all living things on Earth. It can contaminate the air or water, making it unhealthy to consume. If humans don't reduce their impact on the environment, there can be some major repercussions. If people keep using nonrenewable resources at the current rate, all of them will run out. Then, humans won't be able to use them, and this could definitely cause some economic issues. If there are no resources, then the companies that sell them won't make money, and this could cause a long chain of events, which may eventually lead to the collapse of the economy. If the fossil fuel use stays at the current rate, then the global temperatures will continue to climb. This could also have huge impacts on the daily lives of humans. As the global temperatures increase, more of the ice near the poles will melt, which will cause the sea levels to rise, threatening people who live near the coast. If humans stop impacting the environment in negative ways, then the environment problems won't be as much of a problem. For the environment to change, many individual humans have to stop doing things that harm the environment. To help prevent the use of nonrenewable resources, then humans need to buy fewer things made from nonrenewable resources. If people use less electricity, then the power plants that use nonrenewable resources will not be producing as much electricity, and therefore, not using as many nonrenewable resources. People can also start using electricity generated using renewable resources instead of using nonrenewable resources, like solar power, or wind power. Using alternative energy sources will also stop the use of fossil fuels. Then, less carbon dioxide will be released into the atmosphere, so the global temperatures won't rise as much. The global temperatures will still rise for a while, however, because the greenhouse gasses will still linger in the atmosphere and continue to radiate the sun's heat to the surface. Eventually, the global temperatures will be able to stabilize. To stop pollution, people need to dispose of things properly. Dispose of chemicals, batteries, etc. in the proper special bins, and recycle paper and plastic so the materials won't build up in the earth. People who practice agriculture need to learn the proper fertilizer and pesticides
