Initially, we see that man in his unsanctified state without Christ, is prone to sinful behaviors. Romans 3:9-10 (NASB) begins the explanation: “What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin. There is none righteous, not even one…” What must we then do? We must strive to change our identity. Our identity must be changed from a worldly identification, to an identity through Christ Jesus. How does one accomplish this? Paul refers to it as justification by faith. “Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1, NASB).
