Human Heart vs. Tobacco Make a fist. Is it possible that an organ that small creates the possibility for life? The heart is made of pure muscle and although it would seem rather fragile, history has proven otherwise. It has shown its sturdiness and durability through the trial and error of the advancements in cardiology. Many things can go wrong with the heart, however no matter how minuscule the problem may be, it can affect the entire heart, which in turn, would affect the entire body. Cardiology is to fix the problem to allow the patient to live a long health life. The heart is one of the most important organs in the entire human body. It pumps blood throughout the body via the circulatory system and supplies oxygen and nutrients to the tissues and removes carbon dioxide and other wastes. “Normally the heart contracts and relaxes between 70 and 80 times per minute, each heartbeat filling the four chambers inside with a fresh round of blood”(science.nationalgeographic.com). The hollow muscular organ also known as the heart has four chambers: two upper chambers and two lower ones. The upper chambers are the atria and the 2 lover chambers are the ventricles. Together the right ventricle and the right atrium make up the right heart. The left ventricle and the left atrium also make up the left heart. The two sides of the heart are separated by the septum.
