The paper is about exploring the human health experience of the guest speaker who presented in the second week of class on Concepts and Narratives. The health experience of the speaker is shared to nursing students in order to understand the concerns that have shaped the speaker’s life and how students can learn from the situation. A discussion about the speaker’s determinants of health and factors that have shape their overall experience, a description of abstract concepts that stood out in the individual’s narrative, a reflection on assumption as to how they relate to the selected concepts through comparison and contrast,and the integration of nursing literature and theory that provide meaning and new insights for students are considered.In

In 2006, she had chronic pain on her left arm and Raynaud’s disease. She had suffered from Percocet addiction. The illness left her withno insight of what wasthe reality. The speaker narrated that there was alcoholism in the family although her parents did not have history of addiction. Leah was an emergency room nurse who also worked as the supervisor of the unit. In 2008, she started taking Percocet and pilfering other medications from work. In 2009, the investigation of missing narcotics from her work had begun and is considered the worst and best day of her life. She was looking for support and needed huge amount of help during that time. She learned the need to be honest with herself even though it was difficult. She utilized coping mechanisms, and started detoxing herself by decreasing the amount of pills and throwing them out. She had been sleeping a lot and had further abdominal cramps as the result of illness. When the investigation results had been released, CARNA suspended her license. In addition, she felt a fear of isolation with few help from people. She have 3 kids and when they have found out the active addiction from pills and stealing them from work, they felt guilty realizing that they have
