Psychologist Sigmund Freud was one of the most influential thinkers of the twentieth century. His theories helped us understand the views of childhood, memory, personality, and sexuality. Some of his major theories that I will belong to my observation is the id, ego, and superego theory. According to Sigmund Freud, human personality has more than one single component because personality is composed of three elements (Koenane,2014). These three elements are known as the id, the ego, and the superego, that by working together it creates human behaviors. Each element adds their own contribution to the developing personality and the behaviors. According to Freud’s theory, some aspects of your personality might pressure you to act without thinking and other parts of your personality work against these actions and make you obey the rules. During my observation, I noticed that Roberto’s id was driven by the pleasure principle, he attempt immediate results of all his wants, needs, and desires. If his needs or wants weren’t met to his satisfaction he was tense and felt anxiety. As I mentioned before Roberto doesn’t tend to eat at the same time like the rest of the family because he spends four hours at Taekwondo and it conflicts with dinner time.
