Human Development for Nursing has had many important impacts on a series of different topics, what stood out to impact me the most was reading the section about emerging into adulthood. Also, having to read and reply to student discussions from other students who were taking the course helped me engage in the topic more. Reading other students discussion post and identifying their thoughts and feelings on how they felt about the transition into emerging adulthood, you see everyone experienced their transition in different ways, but had stories you could relate to in some way of form. From the reading of student’s discussion posts I learned that not everyone transitioned into adulthood just because they graduated high school or where entering …show more content…
I’ll be making decisions here on out for myself. Whether the decisions will support me in a beneficial way or will my decisions have a negative outcome. Everything I do now reflects on my future. Taking steps in adulthood allows me to recognize the challenges I will have to face and motivating myself to overcome those barriers that will try to stand in my way, as in completing school. I feel as though completing school will put me place to emerge into adulthood more deeply. At this moment in my life right now I feel like completing school is my only challenging, even though I know there will be more to come. I begin to acknowledge my strengths and weaknesses through this stage of transition. I am very confident at achieving anything I put my mind to and anything that I know needs to be complete to put me at the next level of adulthood. I set goals for how I want my future to look; I am committed on making that happen. Regardless of the obstacles that will try to stand in my way they will be knocked down and I will continue to push through. Taking responsibility on the decisions I make and how I act all plays a role on my character. On a personal development is allowing me to perceive who I am becoming, because I have ways to go to recognize who I am and who I am becoming. Entering adulthood is me not only having a rewarding career but working in a career field that has my total interest and that I’m excited about working in. As said before, I’ll be providing a service, I’ll be touching lives. As I am a college student, I’ll be sharing common bonds with other students. Students who have the same mind set and or interests as I do. As I become older you realize that talking to other students, being able to discuss different important factors into emerging into adulthood and just to listen to how other students view their perspective on adulthood. I share similarities with others and they may help me view things differently or vice versa. You learn something new every day. A lot of things has changed and still developing for me, as far as my career, relationships, goals, ect. I’ve become more reflective and abstract with my thinking. A lot of factors come into play. Reflecting back, I still can't believe how far I have come in terms of my studying habits and education. I have a great support system, and people that believe in me, which I can never leave unnoticed to my personal success. I also know there is still plenty of work to be done. My advice to myself and all students is quite simple. Stay hungry in whatever field you choose, and never assume something will just be given to you, go out and earn…

Discussion Forum 5.1 Applying Nursing Theories As the clinical educator for surgical services; I definitely incorporate two major theories in my daily practice. The first one is Benner’s Novice to Expert; this theory plays a huge role in competency based education and validation of the orientees skill level by an assigned group of preceptors. Our goal in competency based education is to immerse the orientee in perioperative nursing practice; allowing the orientee to move from detached observer to someone who is fully engaged and a functioning, proficient team member (Blais&Hayes, 2016). I try to guide the orientee; by engaging a variety of educational materials, including AORN Guidelines, policy and procedures, interactive learning tools,…

A motif that haunts the months of college applications and preparation is the daunting idea of seniors entering into the "real world." An alleged, new realm of reality that discredits the validity of the last few years in high school, not to mention the three before that and all the experiences previously. This concept coincides seamlessly with the idea that college is a beacon of newfound adulthood. Even so, each student's differing personality, aspirations, culture and tribulations falsifies the belief that adulthood is that straightforward. Thus, in order to define the moment that marked my transition into adulthood, I must first define what being an adult means to me.…

After reading human development for young adults and older adults from Fundamentals of Nursing, I decided to focus on young adulthood: ages 18 to 34. I chose this topic because that is the age group I am in. I found this topic interesting as well as providing additional knowledge. Within this age group, people are beginning to branch out from their parent’s homes as well as experiment with new things. For many people, graduation from high school marked the transition period from adolescent to young adulthood.…

Initial Development The development of nursing theories may start in so many ways. A theory may be developed from a conceptual framework based on other disciplines (deductively) or through observation (inductively). When it comes to active aging, the concept was initially inspired by the work of Robert Havighurst on activity theory. According to this theory, elders' well-being relies on them staying active in later life; therefore, staying active is key to successfully ageing (Functionalist, 2017).…

In the life course I’m located in the transitional adulthood stage. The text says that many young adults postpone their responsibilities by going to college. And that many live at home to live cheaply while building their career. It also says that we ease into responsibilities, I find all of this to be judgmental and partly wrong. Although this may be true for some people it’s not for all, now a days you have to go to college in order to survive on your own and pay the bills.…

I thought your critique was well-done and easy to understand and read. You did a great job of explaining each of your points in a clear, concise way. I agree that your article was harder to read, in that, there was a lot going on in regard to the detail of the framework. Your study was quantitative in nature and mine was a mixed-methods study, so that was a difference I noted. Obviously, the frameworks were different for our studies as well.…

Within our social structure, I identify myself most with the middle class. Both of my grandparents are from Mexico and were one of the first in their family to come to the U.S. The economic mobility of my family trends upward while my family rises in socioeconomic status from generation-to-generation. My grandparents are quite secretive about their lifestyle, so it’s unclear exactly how they were able to occupy the social status that they do today. One thing that is apparent in my family is that one’s achieved status is valued greatly.…
