Frederick M. Hudson Theory Analysis

The Human Development Adulthood and Ageing course gave "student the opportunity to learn about the various theories of adult development and ageing and to examine his/her life stage in light of these theories" (OASIS Institute of High Education, 2016, p. 4). The significant areas during the course were examining Frederick M. Hudson's theory, examining the major concerns regarding agencies in Trinidad and health across adulthood. First, Frederick M. Hudson's theory describes the core values at different stages of an individual's life. Currently, I am approaching fifty years, so it was with much interest comparing the forties with the fifty stages. Frederick M. Hudson theory stated that the forties stage is a midlife transition. Individuals start feeling a shift from having unlimited time to achieve goals and starts to narrow down their choices. There are many services and facilities geared towards assisting the elderly in Trinidad. However, there are areas of concern. Elderly homes and care facilities need proper monitoring and regulation of their facilities. The Ministry of the People and Social Development Division of Ageing (2012) reported a growing concern of elder abuse. Such abuse affects the elderly quality of life. It is critical to allow the elderly to live independent lives and be active members of society (p.13).
