What Are The Pros And Cons Of Human Cloning

Human cloning has been a widely discussed topic all throughout the world. While no humans have actually been cloned, animals have, which means it won’t be too long until scientist overcome the challenge of cloning humans. It is a very controversial topic, but because of the amount of cons that outweigh the pros, human cloning should not be allowed or pursued in any way. It is a violation of our rights as humans, and it’s essentially saying human lives are easily replaceable. Cloning is very expensive, and the materials scientists have now aren’t sufficient enough to complete the process of cloning humans. They need more high-tech materials, and the money that goes to this could be going to something that is more beneficial to the world. The procedure itself carries too many risks to the carrier of the egg, the clone, and even the donor. It could benefit the infertile parents, but the risks would still exist for them. The cons of human cloning are far too numerous. It would be wise to ban human cloning now before it becomes it become out of hand.

Scientists remove a mature somatic cell (a cell from a living organism that isn’t a reproductive cell) from the organism they want cloned, and extract its DNA. They also remove an embryo from a female donor and extract that nucleus as well. They then take the nucleus from the somatic cell and insert it into the empty embryo. There are two different ways to insert the DNA into the embryo. Scientists can either use a needle and inject the DNA into the egg, or they can use a small electric current to fuse the DNA and the egg together.
