Many years ago, cloning seemed to be an idea of fantasy and not reality. Cloning was common in movies such as Jurassic Park, The Lost World, Judd Dredd and Alien Resurrection. In Alien Resurrection movie, cloning was necessary in order to save lives. It was not realistic and natural because the God is the only creator of the world. Cloning is a cell, cell product, or organism that is genetically identical to the unit or individual it is derived from. During the process of cloning, a piece of DNA is cut from its source with a restriction enzyme. Then, the DNA is put into a vector ( a DNA molecule used to transport genetic material into another cell). The vector is introduced to a host cell by the process called transformation, then the host cell copies the vector DNA with the original DNA; creating copies of the inserted DNA. After the DNA is done copying, it is then removed from the host cell and purified cell.…

Human Cloning is a great example of how Huxley’s warnings about science and technology are just as relevant as they were back then. “Human Cloning is similar to Brave New World because everyone’s lives were created in a test tube just like the process of human cloning where cells are combined scientifically and the embryo is formed outside the human body.” (Zucker, et al) “In addition to this, in The Brave New World Soma was used as a form of happiness, false happiness. It drew the society away from any form of true love and relationships just as Human Cloning is used to make people fit a certain image.”…

What does it mean to play god? If you’re Hollywood, it means tinkering with what man was never mean to tinker with: the genetic code. In movies, genetic modification is almost always portrayed in a negative light, often under the guise of man “playing god” when he was not meant to. GATTACA’s unethical eugenics, Interstellar’s lack of crop diversity, Jurassic Park’s unforeseen mutations, and Splice’s dangerous hybrids are all examples of how movies are often designed with genetic modification as the cause of conflict or danger. Some people may ask why this matters.…

Brave New World is a piece of dystopic literature that was written by English author Aldous Huxley. Anyone who has seen any of the Jurassic Park movies, knows that cloning something that has been extinct is just a bad idea. Cloning animals will cause a disbalance in nature and in the animal kingdom. Imagine if every month we had to look for a new source of food because the new invasive clone species consumers all the surrounding resources, leaving little left for the remaining surviving species including humans. Cloning is one giant experiment that will cost the united states funds it does not have, and like many experiments it will take hundreds of mistakes to get one success. These mistakes will be tested on the animals causing them pain and suffering, and even if scientists do make a fully formed clone, we have no idea if the clone’s brain is fully developed.…

Mary Shelley illustrates the consequences behind attempting to create life in the novel Frankenstein, which can be compared to the creation of a genetically identical copy of a human. Like Victor Frankenstein “dabbles among the unhallowed damps of the grave” and compiles decomposing human body parts, cloning tries to create life using human tissue or cells (Shelley 39). Human cloning should not be performed because the process has a low success rate, and it is unethical as it violates the respect that every human should be given. Human cloning is a wasteful and ineffective process with a low success rate. Although a clone is a genetic copy of the original, realistically, the clone will not act or think exactly the same as the original.…
