Cloned humans could suffer many medical issues and cause tremendous damage to the human gene pool. The cloning process is very risky to everyone participating in it, specifically the child clone. Results from past experiments show that, “the success rate of past cloning experiments are .1% to 3%, meaning that for every 1000 tries only 1 to 30 clones are made” (---). These 1 to 30 clones could suffer many abnormalities at birth such as a substantially increased birth size, liver and brain defects, lung, kidney and cardiovascular problems, immune system failure and sudden unexplained deaths (---). Many cloned children will …show more content…
Original humans may be viewed inferior to the new advanced human clones. The cloning process using somatic cells enables scientists and future parents to hand select traits associated with the clone (----). Using this technique parents will be able to choose characteristics and traits that are found desirable by society, such as high IQs, the ability to do certain talents and even attractiveness. With this in mind, regular humans will be viewed inferior due to their inability to compete with the new “designer species” created. Secondly, human cloning will degrade human life. according to -----------------------------------------------. certain parents will choose their children to be “like so and so” causing the clone to be viewed as an object such as a new car that is simply chosen for its latest features rather than because it’s a soul and body that is born to experience life, and this would therefore, degrade the value of human life and make it something that can be just bought or ordered online. Thirdly, human cloning will create identity and individuality problem for the clone. Somatic cell cloning allows the creation of a clone with the same genetic information and DNA sequence as a deceased or diseased original. This is helpful when the objective of the clone is to bring back a deceased loved one or provide an organ bank for a diseased child. …show more content…
Cloning research and methods can prove to be very dangerous in the wrong hands, threatening people’s security. Humans shed bout 600,000 particles of skin every hour (--). With technology like human cloning out in the open many people can take advantage of the situation, steal peoples’ genetic information and exploit the new cloned human copy of the person’s genetic information they stole. Hence, making them commit crimes, sell their organs or make many copies of them to create an invincible army that would attack people or do crimes in the original humans’ name. Consequently, cloned humans exploited by such individuals would become a threat to criminal investigations. According to------ DNA profiling has become indispensable in our current world as it has proven to provide very rapid and accurate matching of evidence from the crime scene to the person of suspect. The FBI’s combined DNA Index System (CODIS) alone houses more than 460,000 samples from 34 different states (---). With the existence of cloned humans, DNA profiling would fail to match crime scene evidence with the correct criminal, as multiple people would share the same DNA configurations. This would in turn not only threaten criminal investigations, making them almost impossible to solve but also increase crime rates around the world. Lastly, all clones may be subject to experimentation violations by
