It is already the fourth week of winter term and I started to feel the pressure from this term. At this moment, we are working on our next essay that is Essay 2. I know that it is totally different from the last essay assignment that we did because in the last assignment, we only have one working draft. For the next assignment, we have to do 2 working drafts before we submit the final draft and we also have to write a lot more than essay 1. For this assignment, it is a 5 weeks assignment and I believe that this essay will need a lot of work and research to do. For this essay, we have four options for our prompts. We can either choose a prompt from the textbook, choose a ‘core’ reading from the textbook and another two options are create our own prompt. What I realize from this assignment is that we have …show more content…
Our essay will focused more on the topic and it will be easier for us to search for sources on the internet. So right now I know that having a good topic will help us with our essay. What I understand from this new assignment is that we are going to write a paper where we have to brainstorm more than usual. From the last assignment, I have gained some knowledge on writing an argument paper. It seems pretty hard to develop the argument for my essay but I think I managed to overcome the difficulties. So for this new assignment, I have a quite bit of understanding on how to approach it. I will do a lot of research and develop my essay carefully. Besides that, I have gained clarity about this assignment from the class session. In class, we already discussed a lot about argumentative essay and I believe I will use the knowledge that I gained from the class in my next assignment. Also, in class, we discussed about the essays by King and the discussion about King’s essay really helps me to understand more about the thing that I have to do. I will do my best to make a good

According to Hacker and Sommers’ in “Constructing Reasonable Arguments”, taking a stand on a controversial topic, swaying the reader with evidence and analysis, and citing all sources used within an essay are the stepping-stones to produce a well manufactured argumentative essay. The main goal is to persuade the reader to choose the writer's side of the argument over the opposing side in an informative way. Arguments happen everywhere all the time, which means there is more than one way to look at an issue. It's recommended to research the debatable topic and look at it from multiple angles. An efficient way to present a position is to treat is like a court case and provide the reader with as much evidence to sway them while addressing any…

Reflection Over that three assignments above and the other assignments we have done over this quarter I have noticed a way of think and formating I do when starting a assignment. When starting an assignment I don't start or finish things in order I'll do the main requirements for what goes where and create how ever many pages it needs then I’ll Start the assignment in the middle where I'm doing the main most important part first. For example this project I started with the hard moments essay instead of a title screen just to get it out of the way. I've noticed I don't talk much in class, even though I used to always get in trouble in language arts and reading for talking because I hated those classes, but not speaking much in class doesn't mean I don't contribute to class. I think I contribute a good amount I volunteer for questions (Sometimes).…

The reasons that I believe the prompt was so successful; was because the prompt not only gave us an outline that we have been adapted to in our high school classes, but also, placed the students outside of their comfort zones, by challenging them to analyse a medium that they have, most likely, never had to analyse before, consequently, putting the students in a situation, in which, they are forced to adapt and mature their abilities to analyse the text and express their opinions in essay…

Argumentative Essay Ben Franklin once wrote, “Well done is better than well said.” In simpler terms, Franklin is stating that actions are better than words. While actions and words are both elements that can be manipulated to fit a given situation, one is usually more efficient in solving problems, defining character, and accomplishing goals. In the novels Unbroken and Maus, the actions of the characters prove to be the most vital asset in their survival by helping them overcome obstacles and giving their lives meaning and purpose. On the other hand, The Scarlet Letter illustrates that being unable to transform words into actions makes one emotionally and mentally weaker.…
