1. Karp states that from the beginning of his life he felt uncertain of himself, he did not believe that he can accomplish the things that are expected from him and he also had sleeping problems. His college roommate named him “weak heart” because he seemed a bit of lost soul. Personal experiences of depression can be connected to the society if that personal problem is being experienced by a larger group of people in the society. Karp states “sociology has been a means for working on personal puzzles and doing research that might contribute to a broader understanding of human behavior” (10). It is important to study human experience of depression because if we can understand behavior of individuals we ca understand the society too. As Mills sated depression is a personal issue but if half of the population is depressed it is a personal issue, therefore it is important to study human experience of …show more content…
First, I would like to thank you introducing us such a great comedian, I barely watch television so I never heard of him before. He is a little hard to understand for me but he is funny. I think he is trying to tell us that keeping a positive mindset does not help you all the time especially if you are hungry for five days. Sometimes you need more than someone saying “keep you chin up”, reading a self-help book, or even dreaming about good things when you are in an extremely difficult situation. I do not think thinking about meant and potato would help a hungry child to feel better, what the kid really need is meant and potato to feel better.
