She knows things Andy doesn’t and she understands her actions and the meaning behind them leaving Andy in the dark. They become good friends Lee Hu notices things about Andy realizing his goals, values of education, and longing for companionship. They hang out at the library together where they study and talk. As Andy studies for the PSAT, a standardized test for high school students, he feels very confident in his abilities but feels that while she is helping him study he has not helped her enough. “I’ll get my reward someday” (133). She is referring to the reward that follows the myth, these vague responses make her appear secretive because there is a lot more depth to her character and she is holding out on who she is for now.
The character, Leona Hu, personality is self-assured, mysterious, and secretive. Because of the myth, Lee must keep herself reserved. She has to keep herself a secret and never fully open up, but that does not stop her from understanding her intentions and being so self assured. However, staying reserved and confident in herself gives her a gentle mysterious vibe. She is a strong character in this story. Her presence in the story allows for the reader to interpret things differently which makes the short story
