“The most important reason public schools provide an excellent education is that teachers are required to be highly qualified. They must acquire and maintain a license to teach. In order to earn this teaching certification, they must demonstrate proficiency in all basic skills, study their subject area in depth, learn effective techniques of instructing all kinds of learners and get on-the-job training under the guidance of an experienced teacher.” (Hudak). With homeschooling, time is a big commitment. No matter how you approach it, homeschooling is a tremendous investment of time and energy. Parents spend what should be “summer vacation” for their families making new lesson plans for the following school year. With public school, parents do not need to worry about availability, class sizes, and diversity.
