Huckleberry Finn Hero's Journey Essay

The mississippi river is a dangerous place. Along the river Huck met the good and the evil in the river. This is about the huckleberry Finns hero journey. The adventures of huckleberry Finn is a book about a young boy and slave experiencing the hero’s journey. Hulk is trying to get away from his pap and Jim is running away from slavery. The call to hucks hero’s journey was he didn’t want to be around civilization and didn’t want to be in the custody of pap or mrs. Watson. The call to adventure is when a character goes out to get what he want and face external pressure. It’s what forces the character to go off and get what he wants. In this case huck didn’t want to be around civilization and wanted to live away from his abusive father. So he stages his death kills a pig. He then collects all his supplies and finds a canoe and floats down to Jackson island. Huck finds Jim on the island. This happens to be one of the challenges they face. Avoiding getting caught or Jim getting caught is one of many challenges. Many criminals lived down the Mississippi River which is another challenge. Not dieing or getting killed or robbed. But that isn’t such a big of a problem as the journey is itself. Huck and Jim find two men. They agree to bring them on their journey. Huck believes they are basic con men. I would like to think of this as a challenge itself. Huckleberry Finn and Jim are trying to escape society but are in contact with it again. The raft was a way to get away from society and now society came to the raft. The duke and the king also happen to be terrible people who try to get money from the poor or gullible. This happens to be another challenge cause it means they have people on the raft that they cannot trust. The con men turn in Jim for a $40reward and huck has to try free Jim
