Huckabee On Global Warming

Mike Huckabee says of global warming that "whether humans are responsible for the bulk of climate change is going to be left to the scientists, but it's all of our responsibility to leave this planet in better shape for the future generations than we found it" ("Global Warming Quotes"). Huckabee successfully approaches the subject of global warming in way that everyone can understand that we need to start taken better care of our planet. Even though there are many who believe global warming is a natural phenomenon, humans are the most impactful cause and should conserve energy to reduce their carbon footprint.
When discussing global warming ,climate change is a big part of the issue. Climate change are the side affects of global warming in

Some believe global warming is a natural cycle that has nothing to do with human activity. Anthony Lupo gives claims to this belief such as "carbon dioxide is not a pollutant as many claim. Carbon dioxide is good for plant life and is a natural constituent of the atmosphere. During Earth’s long history there has been more and less carbon dioxide in the atmosphere than we see today" ("Global Warming"). Carbon dioxide may be good for plants but according to data the last time there was this much carbon dioxide in the Earth's atmosphere, modern humans didn't exist. High (CO2) have high risk on humans health and can produce a state of hypercapnia or an excessive amount of CO2 in the blood. which typically results in acidosis, a serious and sometimes fatal condition characterized in humans by headache, nausea and visual disturbances. So saying the rise in (CO2) will have no effect on human life is a very false statement ("CO2 …show more content…
According to author James Delingpole "Between 1992 and 2001 the ice sheet gained 112 billion tons of ice per year. This rate slowed between 2003 and 2008 but still the ice sheet was gaining 82billion tons a year. Not only that but according to the same study, it has led to a reduction in the sea level rise of about 0.23mm a year. Does that sound to you like a continent shrinking because of global warming? Of course not."( "Meltdown Myth"). Although his claim may make sense to some, over time that sea level increase of 0.23mm per year will catch up to us. Just because this may not seem to pose a threat on the environment at this current time doesn't mean its not an evolving problem we should take caution on. Even if their claim of global warming being a natural cycle is true, that doesn't mean we don't have to take better care of the environment. As stated by Mike Huckabee before "whether humans are responsible for the bulk of climate change is going to be left to the scientists, but it's all of our responsibility to leave this planet in better shape for the future generations than we found it" ("Global Warming

Fox News establishes their credibility by referencing to experts’ opinions, like climate scientists. For example, Doug McKelway, a Fox correspondent on The Special Report, uses the “NASA scientist turned climate activist James Hanson,” to show he “also acknowledges the lull” in the planet’s temperature rising (“Climate Change Challenged”). By using this prominent and credible climatologist, Fox News gains the public’s trust and faith in their climate change opinions. James Hanson proves that Global Warming was exaggerated, once he identifies that temperatures have flat lined and have only increased a few tenths of a degree in the past decade. Dr. Robert Carter, a marine geologist, agrees with Hanson and believes that this lull in the past decade proves that climate change is natural and not caused by humans (“House Environmental Committee”).…

A lot of researchers predict that if we keep burning a lot of fossil fuels that the ice in Antarctica will continue to melt at a very high speed. Researchers also predict that rest of the ice in the world will melt around the same time as Antarctica, and warm oceans will expand. They also found out that the melting could happen in as little as a thousand years, causing the ocean to rise by about a foot per decade. Researchers found out that if the sea level was to rise about 200 feet it would put Florida, much of Louisiana , Texas along with the entire East Coast of the United States . Climate scientists are assuming that countries would recognize the dangers of continuing to dig up and burn fossil fuels.…

In the North Pole, at least one polar bear is tightly grasping onto a single slab of ice that barely supports its body weight of over two-thousand pounds. Due to increasing sea levels, the ice that the polar bear is lying on will evaporate in less than two months. Paddling to find land will lack success as miles of shark-infested waters and several other threats lie between it and a temporary Shangri-la. Its chances of survival are slim, but to lower this probability even further, the polar bear is consistently reminded of its lack of food by a sharp pain in its stomach and perhaps an emaciated body outline. The loneliness, lack of adequate shelter, and hunger collectively harm the bear’s psychological and physical well-being.…

Even in 2004, scientists published an article explaining that they believe climate change to be caused by an increase in the sun’s activity stating, “The data suggests that changing solar activity is influencing in some way the global climate causing the world to get warmer.” There are various theories about climate change claiming either that it is entirely false or that the cause is something other than human activity. Though these theories are still out there, at this current time 97% of people agree that there is a climate crisis that is caused by humans, and Al Gore and his movement have a big part in this…

The correct use of the term, especially by an influential figure aids in the acceptance of climate change’s presence. Research in the article "The Scientific Consensus On Climate Change As A Gateway Belief: Experimental Evidence" notes that “at least 97% of climate scientists have concluded that human-caused climate change is happening” (van der Linden et al. 1). The scientific evidence supporting climate change is paramount, yet numerous people--conservative Republicans--continue to believe that the severity of the situation does not exist. Climate change has gained controversy within the political sphere due its negative portrayal of fossil fuels an energy source which Americans have relied on for decades. This financially and politically motivated reliance has left little to no room for alternative energy sources: ethanol, geothermal, solar, and…

Global Warming is more than just temperature change. The cost of global warming is extraordinarily expensive. According to a report by the United Nation 's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, released in March 2014, the Earth 's rising temperature could bring about economic disaster ranging anywhere between $70 and $100 billion a year. This would be the result of “the combined cost of crop losses, rising sea levels, higher temperatures and fresh water shortages” (Surrey 2016). Furthermore, the estimates do not account for major, catastrophic natural events such as tsunamis, Earthquakes, and super storms, which would only increase the overall cost of global warming.…

Human activity is one of the causes of climate change and it was proved by showing the Earth’s temperature today vs. the Earth’s temperature in the 1900’s. A lot of carbon dioxide was released and many states aimed at reducing it (Michaels). While Michaels uses logos in his article to assert the fact that nothing is being done to end global warming, Inhofe attacks DiCaprio and Gore for scaring children with their films and sending the wrong messages. However, they had different intentions. Michaels focused on global warming and provided a solution while Inhofe criticizes the films and points out its flaws like if he was a…

The arguments denying global warming vary, but most are based on two theories: Climate change occurs in patterns, and human emitted carbon dioxide is miniscule compared to other greenhouse gases. According to retired environmental consultant Edmund Contoski, “In the last 1.6 million years there have been 63 alternations between warm and cold climates, and no indication that any of them were caused by changes in carbon dioxide levels.” This claim was proven wrong by scientists by drilling into icebergs millions of years old--where they found that even at the warmest of times in geological history, there was still less carbon than there is today (Glick). This shows us that the carbon in the atmosphere is unnaturally altering the climate. The other argument claiming carbon is one of the least predominant greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere is true--considering carbon is 3 percent of the atmosphere and most of the other gas is water vapor (Contoski).…
