But this is not the case with Jakartans as most people would prefer to travel in private vehicles rather than having to take a bus or the train. This is because the public transportation is mostly unreliable and they sometimes do not reach certain destinations where the daily commuters live. In addition to that, research has found the amount of public transportation users have also decreased over the years from 38.3% in 2002 to 12.9% in 2010, while the amount of motorcycle users increased from 21.2% in 2002 to 48.79% in 2010 (Rahardjo, p.318). This shows as to how much people has grown less interest on riding a public transportation, but they are inclined to utilize a private vehicle or in this case – the motorcycle.
