Last month, Sessions announced that U.S. Attorney John Huber is working in tandem with department Inspector General Michael Horowitz to probe alleged abuses of power at the FBI and DOJ.
Known as a "no-nonsense" prosecutor with a hard-nose for the truth, many are giving Sessions some slack given they believe Huber will get the job done.
Pressure has been mounting for months for Sessions to appoint a second special counsel into alleged abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

But lawmakers say noting Horowitz's recent reports offers insight into Huber and what to expect from him.
Horowitz is who identified the anti-Trump text messages between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page. He also approved handing them over to Congress to review so they could be made public.
Strzok was a senior counter-intelligence official at the FBI before being demoted at the bureau and removed from Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team last summer for sending anti-Trump text messages to Lisa Page.
Page is a senior attorney at the bureau with whom he was having an affair.
Horowitz and Huber are also making extreme progress into alleged FISA abuse from Obama holdovers at the FBI and DOJ. The FBI used the dossier from ex-British spy Christopher Steele to obtain a warrant under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to spy on Trump's 2016 campaign.
