My favorite example of this sensation is one of the many mystifying, alluring pictures of our universe taken by the Hubble telescope. Though an inevitable sense of charm is often the desired outcome of viewing these images, there are some that capture space's vast expanse instead. These pictures require more profundity and patience to reveal their underlying beauty.
The Hubble Deep Field is one of these pictures. Its hundreds of scattered blobs of light appear drab at first glance because they show none of the wispy spirals or vivid colors one would expect when viewing a galaxy. Rather, the Hubble Deep Field acquires its superiority through explanation. Each speck of light seen in this image is a galaxy more rich and more immense than any stretch of land any human could ever imagine.
