The day I moved to Georgia, we had been living in Texas for five years when my mom said we were moving to Georgia. I graduated my senior year from high school I thought she was lying, but she said that the VA center down in Texas was awful, and she didn’t like it there anyways, but she really wanted a better VA system. Then we started packing every month putting stuff in storage, and having to do open houses every other week, we had to clean, vacuum and take our pets with us every time we left the house until our house finally sold. Then we started looking at houses In Grovetown, also for a good school system then we waited 3 weeks for a house because we were looking at spots with upstairs and down stairs, a big backyard for or dogs, also a school…

I tried to tackle the college application process as honestly as I could. I knew I was not the smartest or the most talented applicant in a sea filled with thousands of application, but I knew I was unique. There was and still is only 1 me, Brian Bristol, on the entire planet. I used this knowledge to my advantage and did my best to convey my story to each college I applied to. Being transparent throughout the application process is underappreciated among high school students, and the fact that I was able to express myself was looked upon favorably by many colleges.…

We define diversity as the means of having a variety of qualities in a particular setting. However, in a campus community, diversity is more than just merely having a variety of people. Colleges desire students of different backgrounds, stories, and experiences. The reason why this is a must for a community is that it gives us more of an understanding towards one another. We are all American but the roots of our heritage delve deeper than that.…

As I came to college, my family and I anticipated I would be following a simple mold of a conscientious student. One that is highly focused in some limited number of long term goals. Don 't get me wrong, this only meant that I had high expectations out of my college education. For some people, this path leads them to great success. MANDATORY: Please describe how you have prepared for your intended major, including your readiness to succeed in your upper-division courses once you enroll at the university. Although it took me quite some time to realize, I have been preparing for my major and career all my life. When I started fifth grade, my teacher fostered my love for reading by challenging me to read books that were much more difficult for my grade level because they addressed heavy subjects. He recommended that I read Flowers for Algernon, and it became the very first book that made me feel shock, heartbreak, joy, and frustration all in a single read.…

I had always been destined to speak competitively, but no betting man would have ever pegged me for Extemp. Even I resisted the pairing. The first Extemp my mother had me give was preluded by an hour of me hunched over in her bathtub, fully clothed, surrounded by files and newspapers, trying to decide between figuring out who the hell Qaddafi was and prying open a second-story window. I don’t quite know how I ended up in the tub. The cold marble and safe seclusion helped, but I had made the drowning metaphor physically inescapable.…
