It seems like even they don’t really understand what is going on either. It is especially important to remain consistent (Newman & Reinecke, 2007, p.142). No child is going to learn that something they are doing is inappropriate or unacceptable if some authority figures allow it to happen and the rest are on the other side of this issue. We talked about it in class, but the book reiterated the need to do a reinforcer assessment. Attempting to reinforce an appropriate behavior is pointless if what you are using is not a reinforcer for that specific individual (Newman & Reinecke, 2007, p.150). Another takeaway from Behavioral Detectives would have to be the additional terminology. Before doing the reading, I did not know what “failure to generalize” was and that it was possible for someone to be able to perform a task in one location but not be able to anywhere else (Newman & Reinecke, 2007, p.134) .
