I am Cody. I live in Nampa Idaho. I am now taking my second semester at LCSC. I am pursuing a career in law enforcement working to obtain a degree in psychology and business management to parallel my degrees in law enforcement and criminal justice. Later I will pursue a Masters degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice. I just bought a beautiful home in the heart of Nampa. I live with my beautiful girlfriend and I take care of my grandmother. My girlfriend and I have been dating for eight years now, hence the home purchase. We have two fur babies, Smokey and the Bandit. Two gorgeous male blue heelers. Having grown up in rural Idaho I have had access to much of the addictive substances many have fallen victim. Perhaps the reason for the increased …show more content…
I want to bring forth change and the best way to do so is from within. Some of the family members I speak of still have fallen victim to addiction and relapse regularly. There is so much potential though these individuals seem to be lost with no rational direction. Just this summer I saw a post on the Facebook 208 sales page. One woman was calling out another for the theft of her property. The theft victim had continued to call this lady who suffered from addiction derogatory terms and aired out her dirty laundry to end with this persons addiction history. After growing frustrated with the post I replied and asked the lady to reconsider the post stating that it was irrational and frustrating to say the least. I understood the reason behind the post though there are underlying issues causing this person to steal. Her addiction was far more important than the risk of facing the consequences of her crimes. With no rational thought in this vindictive persons soul she kept the post up until I could contact administration and her removed from the sales site and banned. Do you consider the post calling out a thief who suffers from addiction

    Substance Abuse Satire

I feel that substance abuse is often an act of attention or a way to escape responsibility. Either way I feel that by addressing the individual and their family about the issue and educating them on how to best recover from it rather than only focusing on the user that this allows for a more comprehensive recovering instead of placing complete focus on users. Ideally, I believe that all drugs and alcohol, both legal and illegal with the exception of necessary medical prescriptions, should be banned and shown a zero tolerance towards it. Although I understand this to be unrealistic, as long as someone is a functional alcoholic or drug user that can maintain a career and not show harm to themselves or others, then it shouldn’t be of much concern…
