The Pros being, lowering risks of osteoporosis and fractures, lowering risks of diabetes, lowering risks of colon cancer, reducing hot flashes, and night sweats, reducing mood swings, preventing vaginal atrophy, may lower cardiovascular risk. Moving on to the cons we have, increased risk of stroke, increase risk of pulmonary embolism, increased risk of heart disease in older women, increased risk of breast cancer. ( which is a risk that send panic through many), increased risk of dementia in women over 65, many increase breast tenderness. So with all that being said, how do you decide if HRT is safe enough of not? In 2002 the Women's Health Initiative announced results of the first long term study of HRT, which indicated increased risk of breast cancer, heart …show more content…
However, in 2006 another report came out stating that women taking estrogen only therapy had no increased risk of breast cancer, but in 2010 data showed women taking estrogen-progestin hormone had risk of breast cancer spreading to lymph nodes at a higher rate of speed. If the answer is yes that these things are affecting our quality of life, and I have no doubt they do for some people, then I feel absolutely they should take the HRT. Every medicine, not just hormones, are prescribed as the benefits outweigh the risks of the side effects. If your symptoms are minimal and do not affect your quality of life then I would take the HRT, why take unnecessary

Because this disease primarily affects women, gonadotropin releasing hormone analogues will help avoid acute attacks prior to menstruation (Bissell & Wang, 2015). Gonadotropin releasing hormone analogues can help alleviate menstrual cycle related attacks by suppressing the secretion of luteinizing hormones. By preventing the natural cyclic pattern of menstruation, the hormone levels in the body are permitted to remain constant, removing the added stress from the body. Women diagnosed with acute intermittent porphyria need to be aware that attacks prior to menstruation are common but may still occur when using gonadotropin releasing hormone analogues. It has been found that women should avoid oral contraceptives as they have been linked with acute attacks, most likely due to the…

Another trend that is also increasing is genetic diffference that may be related to breast cancer risk. In Document H it states “ All women have two main competing pathways that break down estrogen”. In Document H it also states “ The ‘bad’ metabolite has been associated with breast cancer”. All of this evidence shows that women that have or have higher chance of breast cancer most likely have a “bad” metabolite. This evidence also shows one reason why women may get breast cancer.…

Additionally, DES was used to regulate menopause, suppress lactating after pregnancy, as a “Plan B” pill, and for acne and height regulation in young girls. The DES Daughters were the women who were exposed to the drug before being born when it was on market, between 1938 and 1971, for expecting mothers. Studies have shown that these women have an increased risk of cancer, specifically clear-cell adenocarcinomas, in their reproductive organs, including the vagina, cervix, and breasts.…

A high chance for breast cancer can come with the use of birth control. A study in 1996 showed that women who did not use the birth control pill had a lower risk of getting breast cancer than those who used the pill (Oral Contraceptives, 2012). Another side effect of birth control is that it can cause a rise in the user 's blood pressure and that can cause other complications. One of the biggest perks to birth control is being able to have a planned pregnancy.
