It is believed that FedEx Express’s main competition right now is with Amazon. Amazon is taking things to the next level and producing drones that are going to be able to deliver packages hours after they have been ordered. To remain up to speed with the competition FedEx Express would like to build some drones and see if they can produce at a level with Amazon. The problem with the drones is that they can only deliver 10 miles from where they start which gives FedEx Express the advantage because they can ship from anywhere whereas Amazon can only ship from their warehouses. The inclusion of TNT Express was just one of the reasons for the increase in profits. They also say that higher base rates, increased volume, and continued cost management played big parts in the increase as well. Fed Ex Express’s leverage ratio is on the higher side of the scale.
