Employee Carpool Habits
In the following chart, I recorded how many employees carpool and divided the responses into four categories : Every day , Certain days , Randomly , Never .
As shown in Figure 1, out of 43,500 employees, more than half the company "never" carpools. However, every day 10,138 employees carpool and on certain days 4,361 employees carpool. Employees that randomly carpool make the last two percent.
Use of Public Transportation
In the following chart , I recorded …show more content…
Randomly 5,862 employees (13%) use public transportation as well as 2,029 employees (5%) that use public transportation on certain days. However, approximately 12,053 employees never use public transportation.
Effect of Potential Improvements to Public Transportation
In the following chart, the respondents who use public transportation randomly or never, on Figure 2, were asked the question : "Which of the following would encourage you to use public transportation more frequently? " and were allowed to select more than one response from those shown below.
According to Figure 3 , out of the 17,915 employees that randomly or never use public transportation, forty one percent say a reduction of commute times would encourage them to use public transportation and thirty one percent say lower fares would encourage them. With just those two improvements approximately 12,890 employees would feel encouraged to use public transportation , not to mention the additional employees that would feel encouraged if there was an improvement in safety, cleanliness, transfers , and stops.
