Hrm/531 Week 2

My duties would not be the way that Nick ran his company, as you can see how it was not run properly. If I was running Nick’s Company I would make a lot of changes so it can run nice and smoothly. Everyone would have a duty that needs to be turned in at the end of their shift. I will also have three team members check there reports and make sure that everything is accurate before they leave. As a hiring manager my process would be a long process because I am looking for long term employees. My steps would be as follow, solve one critical business needs, test on the spot, check attitude, personality, Interpersonal skills and interest regardless what great skills they have. Provide a closure every time. Check for references, conduct one more final interview not in the office but like too a restaurant for dinner or a ball game to see the different side when they are not in a suit and more relax. (Hdaen2014). For Nick’s restaurants, what he needs to do to make sure this doesn’t happen again, is to follow my steps and his company would do just fine. Also Nick needs to be more engaged with his employees by having a meeting every morning before the restaurant opens so everyone can speak their mind and everyone can on the same page. I can bet if Nick have that kind of strategy his company should be just fine. If I was Nick, in order to keep all my good staffs, I would be open and honest with them and let them know where the company stands at the moment with the big drop due to recession and the money issue because lack of reporting the correct report. I will let them know as long as this company stand you will always have a job and when we get back where we used to be everyone will get a bonus for their hard work and for sticking with the company when it needed them the most which was the bad
