Hrm 531 Week 2 Individual Assignment

Stevie came to Vroman’s as a seasonal hire in the winter of 2016. Following the holiday season, Stevie and her management team made the decision to move her into a permanent, part-time position. Stevie is friendly, outgoing, and great with customers. Stevie has near perfect attendance record. She is rarely late, but instead arrives at least five minutes early to almost every shift. That said, there have been several times that Stevie has switched shifts with other employees at the last minute. I need Stevie to make sure she that submits a Time-Off Request form when she needs a day off. Doing so will alleviate the stress of having to find someone to cover her shift on short notice. Stevie is an energetic, goal-oriented employee. She is happy to assist customers and eager to complete projects. However, Stevie has a tendency to take on tasks without having the knowledge to do what is required to complete said task. While I appreciate Stevie taking initiative in situations such as these, I need her to be sure about what she is doing, rather than just assume that what she is doing is correct. For example, last month, we received a cart with a new line of merchandise. …show more content…
Again, while I appreciate her taking the initiative in these situations, there have been times when these directions have conflicted with what her management team had planned. I also need Stevie to slow down when she is working. She is a hard worker and wants to get things done however, sometimes she is in a rush to complete her tasks and things are overlooked. There have been a couple of times that she was unable to locate merchandise thought to have been missing their labels. However, when another employee looked for the merchandise it was quickly located. These situations can be easily rectified if Stevie would slow down when she is working and double check the things that she is doing before moving on to the next
