Before reading the chapter, I read the Netflix HR policy. The policy that first bothered me was “Hire, Reward and Tolerate Only Fully Formed Adults”. This bothered me due to the wording. This time, what bothered me was the reward of giving so much vacation time. I felt this did not make sense with efficiency. Employees can take as much vacation time as they please. It mentioned accountants were just expected to be present during certain times of the year. I feel that is too lenient. While it is beneficial for employees, I feel it’s counter-productive. Too much vacation time can make people come back and care-less about their job because they got very comfortable with being relaxed.
