How do you save a life? Just imagine it for a second. How many of you thought about a person struggling without physical pain? This is what the artist of the song “How to Save a Life” wrote the song for, for people in a dark place and need someone there for them. The artist of the song, Isaac Slade made this song after his experiences at a camp that he was invited to. This camp was made for troubled teens who needed help. Isaac listened to several teens and heard about all their problems and relationships that they had to break to get to where they are now. But why is this song important? Because it is sending a message to everyone, someone is always there for you, someone to listen to your problems, someone to always try to help you.

The line “He smiles politely back at you, you stare politely right on through” implies that he sees you as a friend and as “you stare politely right on through “, it shows that you are serious. It shows that you are worried about your friend. The lines “You begin to wonder why you came” is also further implying the sadness, this is because I’ve interpreted the line as you trying so hard to help your friend, but they won’t accept what you say, they won’t accept your help. The song however ends with a calming and accomplished mood as they have “admitted to everything” or it can end with them saying “they’re just not the same”. Throughout the whole song though, the artist is showing a constant, calm voice, this is to show the care and compassion he has to his friend. He will never raise his voice to his friend, you don’t want to seem like an enemy, you want to be on their side. This is how everyone should be to their friends, they should always be on their side, never raising their voice. They should always be calm, this is to imply that they’re not angry with the other …show more content…
It does however use several words that mean sadness, for example “I lost a friend” is implying that they have lost a friend but in reality, the friend has become lost within his addiction or problem. One of the most repeated lines within the whole song “And I would have stayed up with you all night, had I known how to save a life” is the most symbolic. This is because most people would imagine that the artist would stay up all night to save the teen, but rather if the artist knew what to do to help the teen he would stay up for as long as possible to save him. Although this is a very sad song due to the tone of the song, I found it also motivating. This is because of the tone the song was set at. The verses start off very slow to imply the sadness and then speeds up towards the chorus and in the chorus to increase the momentum and the

In this part of the song he is just waiting and wanting all of his thoughts to stop and be able to feel a sense of relief. Also, in this song there are times where refrains are used. The phrase, “And now I just sit in silence” is repeated all through the song. When certain phrases are repeated in songs they tend to stick in people’s minds. Doing this creates a sense of silence being the major cause for all of the dismal thoughts and feelings experienced.…

A lot of artist use pathos, logos, and ethos in their music everyday to explain a argument. The “Other Side” by Macklemore has a lot of logos in his lyrics as he described how his friend Pimp C was killed by over dose of the purple drank a.k.a lean when he says, “ thinking he might of sipped just a little bit too much of the cough syrup.” He also argues that this drink is very addictive and is influencing our youth. Lean is a addictive cough syrup(promethazine) mixed with sprite that most rappers drink. He uses pathos with the beat, because it gives you a feeling that something bad happened.…

My Personal Playlist and Transcendental Justification Icarus, Bastille, 2011 I personally love this song simply because of the Greek Mythology reference, as well as the really cool entrance; and I think that transcendentalists might like it as well. My interpretation of this song is that it is talking about how young people search for happiness by doing dangerous and risky things (i.e. Icarus got excited and flew up towards the sun), that may lead to them getting hurt (the sun melting the wax off of Icarus’s wings and him falling to his death. Transcendentalists would like this interpretation, because they believe that although people try to bring happiness into their lives by relying on material things (ex. Drugs and Alcohol), this will never…

Mr. Shiftlet, the protagonist of, “The Life You Save”, exemplifies self-deception seeing his role in life is to be other’s savior. Yet, is invalid due to the religious symbolism O’Connor uses. Much of the symbolism used is God telling Shiftlet that he needs to find redemption. Shiftlet as a repairman illustrates how he views himself as someone who needs to fix others. As O’Connor narrates “He felt too that a man with a car had a responsibility to others and he kept his eye out for a hitch-hiker”.…

Casablanca, a romantic drama directed by Michael Curtiz, is an extraordinary example of classic Hollywood cinema. The perfection of its continuity editing allows shots to flow seamlessly into one another with no call for attention. They are filled with small details that at first seem irrelevant in the situation, but later on reveal their narrative significance. One of those elements is the song "As time goes by", that becomes a main theme of Rick, a man who sticks his neck out for nobody, and Ilsa, who let go of her true love to be by the side of a man who fights for freedom. This song remined me of a point in my life where I felt that my girlfriend at the time seemed to be drifting away from me. Bit by bit she started neglecting me and really letting me know that she truly had lost the love she had for me! That is why this song is so important because although the whole point of the song is about letting go of a love for a woman that is gone and the relationship ended. There is special verses that caught my attention such as, “me ire sin marcha atras porque seria fatal” which translates to I will go away without a return because it would be fatal. This I really for a strange reason got a strong connection with this because time in and out me and my girlfriend had arguments in the past but when we broke up I knew that I was best to just not try and keep going with a hurting relationship like we had!…

The song itself begins with a very catchy hook; an introduction simply comprised of four bars of “Mum mum mum mah,” lasting until 0:25. The exposition then starts with the first verse, which lasts from 0:25 to 0:40. Following Verse 1 is the B Section, which can be seen as the introduction of a new theme. Then, from 1:00 to 1:13 minutes into the song, the chorus kicks in. The chorus differentiates itself from a verse because a chorus repeats both the music and the lyrics.…

The song portrays a range of social problems the people have to grapple with as day go by. The song speaks to the inner city streets of the American society regarding the social injustices leveled against the minority communities especially the African Americans. The white man controls most of the majority hence perpetuating racial segregation right from the media, the prisons to the social environments. This has made people to choose a life of drug dealing and easy money as well as abusing the welfare system because they have no other alternative in a society that does not provide them with a motivation to change.…

Have you ever heard a song that has impacted your life? Songs are a form of art that allows artists to express their feelings in a form of music. Songs can be interrupted in many ways; some songs have a more literal meaning, while other songs require you to interpret the lyrics to understand the deeper meaning. Artists often use figurative, metaphorical, and poetic elements in their songs to help develop the overall message. The use of figurative terms in a song leaves the interpretation of the song broad and allows the listener to have their own meaning of the song.…

__I think the meaning of the song that Beyoncé wrote is describing pain and what females have to go to or young teens go through, trying to impress the world, and society. How that all what we do don’t mean anything or how we present ourselves maybe we aren’t too happy on the inside maybe everything isn’t all that’s well. I like the song genre because it really feels like music for our souls trying to heal it also. The new generation now we teenagers are affected by this particular song. I think the most powerful lyrics of the song is “pretty Hurts”, because that is the pain of the song the ultimate feelings that’s what she’s trying to get the audience to understand.…
