Project managers receive various projects throughout the years. Most of the time, their success is measured by how many times they received another project after project after project. And this is due to the harsh reality they face. That you are only as good as your last project or event. This is why project managers do whatever they can to make any project successful. It meant positive word-of-mouth that will go viral enough to attract the right clients.

Usually a boss would go around telling people what to do without putting in some work himself. He thinks that he has the authority to tell people around what needs to be accomplished. On the other hand, leaders are doing their contributions to the project. They lead the work in a positive way that motivates the rest of the team to pour in their input too. Whenever they tell everyone else tasks that needed to be finished, it would be in a way of demonstrating them first how it can be done before telling them to continue where he left off.
How can you be a leader if you don’t take the lead? This is why leaders have followers. A successful project manager would push the team positively. The team, instead of feeling obliged to do something, would even be happy to do at the project manager’s bidding. Why? Because they knew that if worse comes to worse, their project manager would be there for them. The project manager was confident enough in what they can do. And that confidence transcended to the rest of the team. You then end up seeing a team happy to be working with each other. It becomes a productive teamwork.
